We want to thank everyone for attending our grand opening for the KIMBRA Foundation. We very much appreciate your support. It’s only because of support from people like you that we are able to help these orphaned and needy children who are so dear to us.
KIMBRA was founded two years ago and it had been funded with private money, but in 2014 we were able to open it up to public funding.
That’s why we were so happy during the grand opening to have surpassed our goal of 20 individual donors during the event.
We are so grateful for everyone who poured their hearts into KIMBRA and made a donation.
KIMBRA’s original purpose was to help the very poor orphaned children to be able to have an education. We are very happy to be able to step in where we are needed, as we did with the New African Child School, the primary school founded to help orphans, but which had no funding.
As a former Miss Uganda, charity work became Barbara’s full time job and she experienced the worst circumstances very young children go through when they have lost both parents.
These young children are left to be taken care of by grandparents who do not have the means to do so.
KIMBRA takes great pride in supporting and funding the New African Child primary school … but we soon realized that the children could not focus on learning in school when they were constantly ill.
They all had various problems like malaria, intestinal parasites, chigoe fleas (jiggers) in their feet, constant colds, and lice…
With our help and the help of Geoffrey Kimbugwe, KIMBRA opened up a school clinic to help improve the children’s health. KIMBRA also hired a full-time certified nurse to staff the school clinic. KIMBRA also donates medical supplies as well.
However, since the school is located right in the slums of Kampala, Uganda, not only are the kids in need of medical care but their friends and families are too. The clinic is sometimes overwhelmed by the needs of the community. That’s why we are so thankful for everyone who gave even a small amount. It all helps.
KIMBRA started out supporting three children, but today, KIMBRA is funding 13 at the school in various grades starting from grade 1. It’s very gratifying to see the children grow up healthy and educated.
In all, KIMBRA takes care of 300 children at the school clinic, who can now get care 7 days a week, thanks to your generous support.
Thank you again for all you’ve done for the KIMBRA Foundation. We will be keeping you updated with photos and letters in the future so you can see the success of these orphaned and underprivileged children you have so graciously donated to. And so you can see what your generous participation means to these children.
Thank you in advance for all your support and good wishes,
