FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kimbra Foundation Official Grand Opening May 21
Supporting and nurturing the underserved children of Uganda.
Royal Palm Beach, FL — Friday, May 09, 2014 — The Kimbra Foundation (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) will hold a Grand Opening Event on Wednesday, May 21st from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Royal Palm Beach. The mission of the Foundation is to nurture and support the underserved children of Uganda, one of the poorest nations in the world, by providing them with basic necessities, including food, shelter, clothing and a solid educational base.
Kimbra’s Cofounders Al Sears, M.D. and Barbara Kimbugwe, Miss Uganda 2004-2005, will be hosting the event.
Ms. Kimbugwe said, “As a child growing up in Kampala, Uganda, I came from a modest home, but was blessed to have a loving family, food, shelter, clothing and education. But there were so many children who were not so fortunate. I didn’t have to travel far from my town to witness extreme poverty. My goal has been to use my influence as Miss Uganda to raise money and help these precious children.”
The Kimbra Foundation concentrates its efforts in the underserved rural areas of Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. Here, some of the worst health conditions can be found due to harsh conditions and limited resources. Like many regions throughout Africa, Uganda suffers from widespread disease and malnutrition.
Dr. Sears, a local medical physician and health rights advocate, has travelled to Uganda and witnessed first-hand how the family’s struggle just to survive and provide the basic necessities, can hinder a child’s ability to get an education.
According to Dr. Sears, “When we support the community with their basic needs such as food, fresh water, shelter and medical care … we are improving the lives of the children and opening doors so they can get a proper education. By nurturing these young children and providing them with support in their education and personal growth we are not only helping them as individuals … but we’re also helping the entire community by developing the leaders of the future.”
The Grand Opening Event is the celebration and announcement of the Kimbra Foundation’s official launch.
